 Staff

Class teacher – Miss Shenton

Teaching assistant: Mrs. Dempster

P.E

Monday – P.E

Friday - P.E

Children need to leave their P.E kit (black shorts, white t shirt) at school; we will send it home to be washed every half term. For outdoor games on Tuesday children will need pumps or trainers and jogging trousers for the winter. Long hair must be tied back and no jewellery please.

Spellings

Spellings are given out on Friday and need to be learned for the test the following Thursday. The worksheet needs to be returned, completed on Thursday. Please help your child to learn their spellings at home – remember Look, Say, Cover, Write and Check. If your child is absent when they are given out, please collect a copy from the Class 5 notice board in the classroom. Children are rewarded with a certificate for getting full marks and a gel pen for full marks on three consecutive weeks.

Homework

Homework is always a consolidation of the week's work and is given out every Friday. Class 5 will always have one piece of Maths, Spellings and occasionally one topical piece which is optional. This must be completed by the following Thursday.

Visits

During the year we will make regular visits to Levenshulme Library, where the children will be able to choose books to bring back to school. We will also visit other places in the local area.

Reading books

Your child needs to bring their book bag to school every day.

Accelerated Reading takes place every day and the children are free to take a quiz each morning. Each week your child will read as part of a group and to either Miss Shenton or Mrs Dempster. Children need to try and do as much reading as possible at home and this needs to be written down in their reading record.

Golden Time

We have golden time on a Friday. During golden time children can take part in a range of activities. Children who have not behaved appropriately during the week may have to miss some or all of their golden time.

Friday Assembly

Children who have received certificates for out of school activities such as swimming or sporting activities can bring their certificates to show in good work assembly on Friday mornings. During the year there will be an opportunity for parents to come and watch their child in the class assembly. The dates for these will be given nearer the time.
