Music
At St. Andrew's we believe that music plays an important role in a child's education. Music ignites all areas of child development: intellectual, social and emotional, motor, language, and overall literacy.
Our teaching of music is based upon the belief that it is a creative and social art to be enjoyed. Children have the opportunity to enjoy musical experiences through listening, singing, movement and dance and by playing instruments. We employ a specialist music teacher to teach music and give pupils the best opportunity to develop their knowledge and skills in this area of the curriculum.
All children take part in a weekly singing assembly and our school choir (for children in Years 3 - 6) perform regularly at community events. Year 4 pupils have opportunities to learn the recorder and pupils in Years 4, 5 and 6 are offered tuition in brass and stringed instruments, including guitar, depending upon availability.
We greatly encourage children to learn, play and perform music outside of school; there are many opportunities for children to participate in various activities around Manchester. Please click on the images below to find out more.
