In DT, Year 5 have been making pop-up books based on fairy tales and nursery rhymes. Their target audience was Year 1 children so on World Book Day 5CC took their books down to 1GF and read their books to the Year 1 children. It was a fun, confidence building activity for 5CC and all the Year 1 children really enjoyed the books. A fantastic and enjoyable activity to promote reading on World Book Day.

Year 4 visited the Royal Exchange theatre, along with several other schools, for ‘Singaround’. The children had a couple of months to learn 10 songs, and then sang them altogether with professional musicians to accompany them. Some children were chosen to go onto the stage and be a ‘song boss’.

This year we held our Summer concert in St Peter’s church. The children showed off their fabulous musical talents, and it was wonderful to have a full audience once again.

All the children who play a musical instrument visited the Bridgewater Hall to play with the Hallé Orchestra. We spent a couple of months learning 2 pieces of music and 2 songs in school, then we went to perform these pieces/songs along with the Hallé Orchestra and many other schools. The theme this year was ‘The Americas’. We had great fun, dancing, singing and playing.

The choir won a competition for Manchester schools. The prize was performing a song with Faith Tucker (Britain’s Got Talent finalist) and the G Choir (a gospel choir from Hull) in Manchester Cathedral. We also got to perform our own song. The children were fantastic.

The Year 6 children all visited the Bridgewater Hall for the ‘Big Sing’, along with about 25 other schools from Greater Manchester. They sang and danced to songs from the 70s. There was a live band on the stage, giving a real festival feel.

On December 18th, the choir went to perform at Manchester Cathedral as part of Trinity High School’s carol service. The children sang beautifully and we received many compliments from parents and Trinity staff.
