  • Hearing Impaired pupils' artwork

This year the HI pupils worked alongside the actress Catherine Russell within their English lessons, following her poems posted on her YouTube channel.

We created some fantastic artwork around this, including the piece above.

This work was inspired by a song written by Catherine’s father, the actor Nicholas Smith called ‘The Caterpillar’s Song.’

We submitted this work to the Royal Academy Young Artists Summer Exhibition and were really pleased to find out that out of 33,000 entries, we were chosen as one 572 exhibits within the exhibition.

The exhibition opens on Tuesday 13th July and can be viewed by going to The Royal Academy website and clicking onto the Young Artist Summer Show. Our work is called:

A Caterpillar Sat Upon a Lettuce Leaf ‘

You can search for this within the exhibition page.

There is a section at the bottom of the work where you can vote for the People’s Choice Award.

Please vote for us – the whole process has been a fantastic experience for the children and this would be the icing on the cake!!!!

And please tell everyone you know to have a look and vote!

                                                        Thank you  ??
