The Governing Body
Ethos statement
At St. Andrew's C.E. Primary School we place a high priority on maintaining the well-being of all employees. We see this as an important part of our school Christian values.
Our commitments
1. The Governors and the SLT are committed to fostering a culture of cooperation, trust and mutual respect, where all individuals are treated with dignity, and can work at their optimum level.
2. Decisions made by the SLT and Governors will endeavour to have staff well-being included in the decision-making process.
3. We will promote effective communication and ensure that there are procedures in place for consulting and supporting employees on changes in the organisation, to management structures and working arrangements.
4. An open door policy exists with the head teacher to discuss well-being issues of a personal nature.
5. Staff surveys will be used to gather feedback on well-being.
The Governing body consists of:
- Two parent governors
- One governor appointed by the local authority
- One staff governor
- Six foundation governors
- One governor appointed by the Manchester diocese
- One head teacher
A Chair and Deputy Chair are elected annually from this group of governors. Governors are responsible for:
- ensuring that the school is running well;
- ensuring that the school's budget is spent efficiently;
- appointing the people that work in the school;
- ensuring that the National Curriculum is being taught;
- helping to draft school policies;
- monitoring standards and setting targets.
The governing body meets regularly each term. Governors' sub-committees for resources management (finance, staffing, premises) and curriculum also meet each term. The Chair of Governors is Mrs Chantelle Kay-Boom.

Chantelle Kay-Boom
I have two children, one at St. Andrew's and one looking forward to starting school. I am originally from New Zealand and relocated to England in 2012, moving to Levenshulme when my older child was just a year old. I really enjoy the community feel of Levenshulme and how this continues within the school. I am happy for the opportunity to support this wonderful school in the role of a Parent Governor.
Reverend George Reeves
I am the Rector of both St. Mark's and St. Peter's churches in Levenshulme, for which I was licensed in June 2017. I have over 10 year's experience of being a school Governor here. I firmly believe in Church of England schools promoting Christian Values, whilst respecting people of all beliefs and backgrounds. I have the pleasure of leading Collective Worship. I have an interest in inter-faith work and invest a significant time with our friends at Madina Mosque in Levenshulme. I am a member of the Diocese of Manchester Board of Education.
Adele Steele
I came to work at St. Andrew's in January 2017 and currently teach Year 6. I have been a teacher for 25 years and have taught across Key Stages 1 and 2. I have led English and Assessment and been a KS1 and KS2 Phase Leader and a member of a Senior Leadership Team. I became a co-opted governor in March 2018 and was delighted to have the opportunity to be a part of the Governing Body for St. Andrew's. I have a strong belief that all children should be given the best start in life academically, through their enjoyment at school and learning, and my experience of working at St. Andrew's supports this ethos.
Helen Rimmer
I’m from the North West and have lived in Levenshulme around 14 years, having two children here, one currently at St Andrew’s and the other due to start in 2023. I work for an environmental charity and am passionate about community and environment. I really appreciate St Andrew’s for the diversity of our school community, and the importance the school places on the values of kindness, caring, cultural diversity and fairness. St Andrew’s is a lovely school where staff and children are valued, and I’m keen to support and contribute to the school as best as I can in the role of governor.
Greg Sammons
I have lived in Manchester since 2010, moving to Levenshulme a few years later. I am married and have two young daughters. We are active members of Longsight Church of the Nazarene. I am Chair of Levenshulme Inspire Foundation and I work for Citizens Advice in Stockport.
Hannie Kirkham
I am Research and Business Development Manager for an educational publishing specialist and have over ten years experience in educational content for print and digital media, as well as market research and thought leadership. As LA Governor, I want to support the school so that the staff can focus on giving the best education to all the children. St Andrew's is a lovely school; It is vibrant and fun and the school's values reflect my own.
Stefania Silvestri
I moved to the UK ten years ago and have been living in Levenshulme with my family for the past 8 years. I have two children at St Andrew's. I have been working in higher education, both internationally and nationally, in various roles for the past 15 years. I look forward to bring my knowledge of the education sector to support the governing board and the school.
Graham Reeves
I moved to Levenshulme nearly 50 years ago, and my 4 children all attended St Andrews school for their primary years, and benefitted from the confidence building and rounded education they received. At that time I was involved in the PTA, and my wife was a parent governor.
I worked for many years in Local Authority social services, and then for 10 years as Director of a Christian charity offering inclusive nursery provision and family support. For the past
five years, I worked for a local and international charity developing community living support for adults with a learning disability. My role locally was Human Resources, recruiting and supporting staff. I retired in the summer 2023.
I am an active member of St Peters Church in Levenshulme. As a family we have fostered children for over 25 years, both long and short term. I have recently become a foundation Governor, and look forward to supporting and participating in St Andrews school life.
